WELCOME
TO ST JOHN'S HOUSE
The
Practice
Although the practice dates from 1894, it has been based at St John’s House since 1966. The practice is fully computerised and we all believe strongly in preventive medicine.
Improvements have been made over the years to St John’s House and the Coach House. In 1996 an extension to the rear allowed the main waiting room to be enlarged and improved. In 2005 a major renovation of the Coach House was completed to provide three additional consulting rooms and a seminar room, an extra clinic room for nurses and a lift and a toilet providing access for wheelchair-bound and disabled patients. This toilet also provides baby-changing facilities.
We are planning a larger, replacement surgery so that we can offer a more comprehensive health care service to patients, and hope that NHS funding will allow us to move in the next two to three years.
All Partners are committed to providing personal care, although patients have the choice of seeing any doctor within the partnership irrespective of whom they are registered with.
We are both a training practice for doctors wanting to become GPs and a teaching practice for medical students.
General Enquiries
If you are phoning to find out the results of a test please telephone 01905 740002 after 11.00am. Please bear in mind that results will not reach the surgery until two or three days after your test.
You may also wish to consider contacting NHS Direct for telephone advice on 0845 4647 or by visiting NHS Direct on-line's web-site www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
Friends
Of St John's House Surgery:
Equipment
Fund
In response to suggestions from patients and relatives, we decided to set up a separate fund and bank account for donations that support the work of the practice. This became known as the 'Friends of St John's House Surgery Equipment Fund'. Over the years, patients and their relatives have very generously donated sums of money to enable the purchase and replacement of several items of medical equipment used in the surgery. Such purchases include foetal heart monitors used in antenatal care, as well as nebulisers used by our practice nurses to treat severe cases of asthma, blood pressure monitors to be loaned to patients, etc.
Wherever possible, individual items purchased through the fund will be clearly labelled as such. On occasions charitable organisations and other groups have approached the surgery to discuss how they can help fund major items of medical equipment, and we are happy to consider any such offers of help.
If you would like to discuss making a donation to the fund, either personally or on behalf of an organisation, please ask to speak to our practice manager, or any of the Partners in the practice. Cheques should be made payable to 'Friends of St John's House Equipment Fund'.
All donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and acknowledged by the practice.
